The Sue & Martin Parnell Playground has been completed in the village of Mto wa Mbu, Tanzania, Africa. Not only was a playground provided, but also a giant bouncy castle and classroom resources for the Lindsay Kimmett Kindergarten.

With funding from the Lindsay Kimmett Memorial Foundation of Cochrane, Boma Africa’s dream of providing these children with a playground was realized in February. Funding from Sue and Martin Parnell and their supporters played a huge role, the major event being the 6th annual New Years Eve Run/ Walk Marathon at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre in Cochrane.

Until the March 1 completion of the Sue & Martin Parnell Playground, the closest playground to Mto wa Mbu was 130 kilometres away and the majority of the children in this village had never played on one. The new playground is located at the LK Kindergarten and has four structures; a double slide, a swing-set, a merry-go-round and a teeter-totter.

The importance of play and activity for children’s development should not be under-estimated. Martin’s belief in play is easy to appreciate when you consider his exceptional history of supporting play and sport for children around the world.

In 2014, Boma Africa built and opened the kindergarten school in the Tanzanian village of Mto wa Mbu.
