Jo-Anne Oucharek's photo, 'The Catch,' was a hit at the 2023 World Photographic Cup.

The World Photographic Cup Exhibition will be held in Cochrane from June 6 to 22, with a fundraising event on June 8 where local team members will discuss their work at Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery at 312 Fifth Ave.

The World Photographic Cup is the "Olympics" of photography competition. Each year, Team Canada selects a team of photographers to represent Canada to compete on the world stage.

The yearly competition has two local connections. Jacquie Matechuk, the competition's 2021 bronze medalist and a Canon Canada Ambassador, was also a 2023 Team Canada representative in the Wildlife and Reportage category. As well, Jo-Anne Oucharek, a 2023 Team Canada representative, earned the Best of Nation award. She will be on site to share the story behind her image “The Catch” and her experience being new to Team Canada this year.

Tickets are $17.31, available at Eventbrite.com. The June 8 event runs from 6 to 9 pm.
