PHOTOS: Mayor presents cheque from golf tournament to Cochrane humane society

Janine Rossler of the Cochrane & Area Humane Society said they will put the money to use right away, with construction on a new roof slated for August.

Mayor Jeff Genung presented the Cochrane & Area Humane Society with a cheque for $94,850 on Friday – the proceeds from his annual invitational golf tournament on July 24.

Janine Rossler of CAHS said they will put the money to use right away, with construction on a new roof slated for August.

“It’s phenomenal. It was such a fun day. And what an amazing thing to do for the community, too,” she said.

Genung said it was the most money his golf tournament – which has been operating for three years – has ever raised, with the largest number of golfers as well.

“The outpouring of support from sponsors and volunteers and golfers, it’s just been overwhelming," he said. "This will raise the roof on the humane society.”
