Rocky View Schools (RVS) has found the right candidate for its 21st Century Learning initiative.
Leslie Collings, the current principal of Springbank Community High School, has been named director of the program. Collings has also worked at Cochrane High School, Mitford Middle School and Westbrook Elementary School.
Rocky View Schools superintendent Greg Bass said Collings’ ability to transform Springbank High’s culture to meet the needs of 21st century students makes her the perfect person for such a position.
“She has a proven track record of putting students first and ensuring school improvement is fostered through a collaboratively developed shared vision,” said Bass. “I am very excited for (Collings) to join our learning department; I have every confidence she will excel.”
Rocky View Schools’ 21st Century Learning aims to identify seven essential conditions in the classroom to achieve success. They include: Vision, system thinking, 21st century skills, learning environments, educator proficiency, access and infrastructure and accountability.
Along with a master of education and 25 years experience as an educator, Collings has worked with One-to-One Community of Practice, the Quest A+ Initiative and the Flexibility Project.
