Residents can provide input on the future of public transit in Cochrane through surveys taking place at upcoming community events this week.
Until June 9, an online survey will be available via letstalkcochrane.ca/transit. More than 350 Cochranites have already responded, and the Town invites all residents to take part.
Cochrane will also be hosting two in-person interactive community events, where riders and non-riders for Cochrane’s On-Demand Local Transit (COLT) will have the chance to share their thoughts on the future of public transit.
The first event will take place on Thursday May 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Station. The second event will take place at the Cochrane Farmer’s Market on June 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The study will examine Cochrane’s current transit service delivery, incorporating technical assessments of the existing system. It will also look at public transit best practices, insights from other communities, and feedback from community engagement initiatives.
Since residents play an advisory role in the project, all feedback will be summarized in a Cochrane ‘What We Heard’ report that will be provided to council for consideration in July.
The outcomes of the study will provide council with options on what the future for public transit can look like, within varying budget parameters in Fall 2024.
