RCMP apprehend male driver with warrants for arrest in traffic stop

The Mini Thni man was discovered to be in possession of an illegal substance, with numerous warrants already out for his arrest

An illegal substance was discovered in the possession of a Mini Thni man after Stoney Nakoda RCMP pulled him over for a traffic infraction on May 17.  

Mitchell Lefthand, 32, was also determined to have numerous warrants for his arrest and tried to flee from the officer. 

The officer was able to make an arrest and Lefthand is charged with possession of a controlled substance, failure to comply with conditions of a release order and charges under the Traffic Safety Act, in addition to resisting arrest. 

The accused was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is set to appear in Canmore Provincial Court today (May 18). He was also provided court dates for his warrants out of Cochrane and Calgary.
