The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has confirmed that the gruesome find in the rural area of Township Road 252 near Cochrane was indeed human remains.
The Cochrane RCMP responded to a call at a rural property in the area on Oct. 13; Major Crimes Unit and the Calgary Forensic Identification Section investigated the remains prior to sending them off to the Alberta Medical Examiner, where they were confirmed as human remains.
Edmonton’s RCMP spokesperson Doris Stapleton said at this point, it cannot be confirmed what type of human remains were discovered or their condition.
