Restaurant chain donates to Activettes Food Bank

Gather your non-perishable foods and head down to Cochrane’s Original Joe’s April 12, as the restaurant chain is hosting its first ever food drive in support of local food banks within the community.

Cochrane’s Original Joe’s will be collecting donations and non-perishable foods now up until April 12 for the local Cochrane Activettes Food Bank.

Customers who donate April 12 will also receive half-off a brunch item, which is served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“It’s a really simple way to generate buzz in the local community,” said Chris Graham, Original Joe’s Cochrane managing partner.

Graham thinks it’s a good idea to get everyone on the same page across every Original Joe’s location, by hosting the food drive on the same day as all 63 locations will be participating.

“It impacts the local community right out of the gate,” said Graham.

Original Joe’s shows care for the communities they’re located in, not only through this food drive, but the company also joined the Mealshare program last year and released their current figures last month. Original Joe’s announced that 21,684 meals were donated through Mealshare since its introduction in November 2014, as part of the restaurant’s Community Care Fund.

The Cochrane location donates its meals through the Breakfast Club of Canada, which Original Joe’s staff have previously made and delivered breakfast to Glenbow Elementary School.

“It’s good to give back to the community that needs it,” said Graham.
