In preparation of the new school year, Rocky View Schools (RVS) will host their annual My First Ride in-person event for new bus riders on Aug. 26 and 27.
The event presented by RVS bus contractors will give parents and students the chance to learn more about bus safety, and also take them on a short bus trip.
The program will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day, and will take place at the RVS Education Centre on 2651 Chinook Winds Drive SW, Airdrie. Material covered at each session will be the same, with a Q&A. Questions can be emailed beforehand via [email protected].
Senior Manager of Transportation, Morley Kostecky, said the first bus ride for many students is always daunting.
“Students and families appreciate the peace of mind that comes with our My First Ride event every summer, where they can ask questions, experience a bus ride in a safe, controlled environment and learn more about how to get to school safely,” Kostecky said.
