Cochrane Search and Rescue (CSAR) were instrumental in locating a missing man last week, Paul Kerr.
The local volunteer-run organization assisted RCMP in locating the missing 59-year-old man in a cabin outside Cochrane, near Towers Trail and Twp Road 252.
Kerr was reported missing by his family on July 21 at 11:30 p.m., last seen around 4 p.m. earlier that day on his bicycle on Towers Trail.
The CSAR, with the assistance of RCMP, located Kerr on July 23 at 11 a.m. whereupon he was transported to hospital and received medical attention for dehydration.
The lone occupant of a car died after making a U-turn on Hwy 22 on July 27.
Local RCMP and EMS responded to a call of a two-vehicle collision around 1:30 p.m. that took place on Hwy 22, along the Trans Canada Highway overpass (Hwy 1).
It was reported that the driver of the car was heading northbound on Hwy 22 after making a U-turn in front of a southbound truck; emergency crews pronounced the 48-year-old driver from Edmonton deceased on scene.
The truck had six occupants, including four children under ten years of age, from Wildwood, AB. All occupants were treated by EMS and two of the children (between ages 1-4) were transported to Foothills Hospital via ambulance for sustaining minor injuries.
Alcohol and speed were not believed to be factors.
Hwy 22 was closed for several hours as a result of the accident.
A 27-year-old Morley resident, Tristan Wesley, will make his next appearance in Cochrane Provincial Court via CCTV Aug. 4.
Wesley has been charged with second-degree murder, as well as assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats in an incident linked to the death of 55-year-old Morley resident, Myles McLean.
Cochrane RCMP were dispatched at 11:45 p.m. July 1 after a report came in that there was a body laying on the side of Highway 1 between Morley Road and Highway 40.
