Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Cochrane area.
The environmental agency states that weather conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail. Environment Canada stated that thunderstorms are beginning to develop in west-central Alberta, and will move east throughout the day and some of these thunderstorms may become severe this afternoon.
Thunderstorms are expected to be moving very fast today, possibly more than 60 km/h, according to Environment Canada. There is also a very slight risk of a tornado.
