The sidewalks of Cochrane’s historic downtown will be bustling with shoppers — all armed with a map of local businesses and a list of hot deals.
Walk & Shop Cochrane is set to hit town for the third time May 6, starting bright and early with a 9 a.m. kickoff at Legacy Guitar & Coffee House. The event is hosted and organized by the “Shop Girls,” a duo who also go by Sue Mackey and Donna Pattullo.
“This event is all about supporting small businesses in a small town, as well as having a fun day out with friends,” said Pattullo. “We want to make it a win-win for both parties — the business owners and the shoppers.”
After convening at the music venue and coffee shop for a social hour, participants will be handed their maps.
“Then they are on their own,” said Mackey. “They can make lunch reservations or pre-order from Legacy. The idea is they’ll shop all day.”
So far 39 local enterprises have signed up for the shopping spree, said Mackey. More than 50 shoppers have pre-registered.
Registrants will score a number of deals from local business owners — from discounted prices, to gifts with purchase.
“A number of businesses have extended their offers until the end of May, to encourage the shoppers to come back to Cochrane,” said Mackey.
Anyone is welcome to take part in Walk & Shop Cochrane. Pre-registration is preferred and can be done by calling 403-246-4140 or emailing [email protected].
