Get ready to adorn your favourite jerseys and get active, because RBC Sports Day in Canada is inviting Canadians to celebrate sport.
The Canada wide initiative runs from Nov. 22-29, with the final day being recognized as Sports Day in Canada.
Cochranites are invited to celebrate the power of sport in Cochrane by taking pictures of themselves, their family or sports team being active in sport and posting them on social media using #CochraneSportsWeek or #SportsDay as hashtags.
“It’s a great way to recognize sport overall,” said Deb Maxwell, Town of Cochrane recreational programmer. “With social media, everyone can get involved and be following and celebrating and posting pictures of themselves.”
Maxwell said Nov. 28 is jersey day, so the Cochrane Fun Van would be out and about recognizing people who are wearing their favourite jerseys and giving out prizes. She said they have invited the councillors and the mayor to wear their favourite jerseys for the day.
On Nov. 29, Maxwell said the Fun Van would be at Cochrane Light Up celebrating sports day and the Holiday season.
Sports day in Canada is presented by RBC, ParticipACTION, CBC and True Sport. According to the official website, the event is an opportunity for all Canadians to celebrate the power of sport, build community and national spirit and facilitate healthy, active living.
