Cochrane RCMP are still investigating a collision that took place between a vehicle and a person on the nearby Stoney Nation.
Officers responded to a complaint around 8 p.m. March 23, arriving at a residence on the west side of the Nation where a 28-year-old male was injured by a vehicle. The male was transported to hospital via ambulance and is in serious, but stable condition.
A female driver, 38-year-old Bridgette Chiniquay, has been charged with ‘aggravated assault’, ‘driving while disqualified’, ‘impaired driving causing bodily harm’, ‘failure to remain at the scene of an accident’ and ‘criminal negligence causing bodily harm’.
Cochrane RCMP closed Hwy 1A between Cochrane and Calgary in both directions late morning on March 21 due to poor road conditions and low visibility (heavy fog). The highway was reopened by the early afternoon. According to Corp. Greg Stannard with the local detachment there were several collisions, including one with a police cruiser. All injuries were reported to be minor.
A single vehicle collision took place in front of Mitford Middle School, along Quigley Drive March 24 around 8:30 a.m.
The driver collided with a utility box as a result of a medical condition. She was transported to hospital and is recovering from non-life threatening injuries sustained from the crash.
