Cochrane is asking residents to get ready for annual street sweeping that is set to start next week, on April 29.

Each subdivision in town is scheduled for a single day of sweeping, outside of regular waste, recycling, and organic collection days.

The Town outlines that annual street sweeping helps keep the roads in town both safe and well-maintained. The Cochrane Roads Department asks that residents help cooperate with their efforts as they keep the community clean.

Residents can remove winter debris off their driveways by simply sweeping it onto the street. On their respective street sweeping day, the town will scoop the debris as part of the street sweeping program.

For each scheduled sweeping day, the town asks that residents follow the following rules:

  •  move vehicles to off-street parking by 8 a.m.
  •  use off-street parking or alleyways
  •  move curb ramps, hockey and basketball nets off the curb and onto your property
  • remind your neighbours and offer to help.

Crews will avoid ramps and other items left in roadways, but the Town warns that items left in roadways could be damaged. This could also impact the overall sweeping completion of each neighbourhood.

The Town thanks residents for their cooperation in this year’s street sweeping.
