A third grade student who wandered off from Elizabeth Barrett Elementary was safely located by Cochrane RCMP officers near the Cochrane RancheHouse, along Big Hill Creek, and returned to the school on June 2.
Officers were dispatched around 10:50 a.m. It took officers, who immediately began scouring surrounding areas, around an hour and half to locate the young boy, who had gotten stuck in the mud and lost his shoes while playing at the creek.
The child has a history of leaving school grounds without informing authorities of his whereabouts.
He was not injured.
Cochrane RCMP were joined by local fire services (and Calgary detachments), responding to a house fire at Twp 252 and Springbank Heights around 11:30 a.m. May 29.
The house, which was listed for sale and was vacant of people and possessions for nearly one year, burnt entirely to the ground.
Corp. Mel Calahasen with the Cochrane RCMP said they are currently awaiting the results from the fire investigator, but there are indications that the cause of fire may be suspicious.
A missing Langdon man and his dog, reported to local RCMP as last seen in the Bragg Creek area on May 30, was reported to have returned home safely to his family around 9 p.m. June 1.
Twenty-nine year-old Ward Webber and his dog, Nala, were reported to have gone into the woods, failing to notify friends or family of their whereabouts.
