One Calgary mathematician is looking to solve classroom groans, matched by mounting confusion through one teacher at a time.

The founder of Math Pickle, Dr. Gordon Hamilton has created a program designed to teach Kindergarten through Grade 12 students, with all ranges of abilities and interest in mathematics; mathpickle.com.

The Cochrane Home Educators are bringing the Math Pickle program to town, with several eight-week, 50-minute class sessions beginning Nov. 2. The free classes will be held Friday afternoons at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Centre and are being offered for all ages of children and teens.

“Math Pickle is an interactive class that will engage students of all abilities in fun, hands-on math challenges, puzzles and games,” said parent volunteer, Marggie Pie. “The small number of students in the class allows the instructor to customize the activities to respond to students interest.”

Hamilton is a passionate mathematician, educator and board game designer; to register for the classes: [email protected] or call 403-851-0472.
