Cochrane’s family friendly summer event, Cochrane SummerFest and Classic Bullriding, is finally upon us.

Taking place at Cochrane Lions Rodeo Park, the two-day event will provide festivalgoers with all-ages fun, from bullriding and a late-night cabaret, to an electronic dance music festival, to pony and wagon rides.

The event, which is hosted by Cochrane and Area Events Society, is set to run July 26-27.

The fun will be kicked off Friday evening with the inaugural running of TreeZen EDM — a night of electronic dance music (EDM).

Organized by Greg Noseworthy, a DJ known as Gregrrr, the music event will feature DJs White Light, Gnarcolepsy, Pixel Junkeez and BA DJs, along with a special live performance from Calgary pair F.A.M. Gregrrr himself, who has played internationally, may even hit the stage.

The music festival is slated to get underway at 7 p.m., running to about 1 a.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance at cochraneevents.ca for $20 or at the gate for $25.

SummerFest kicks off at noontime on Saturday, welcoming Cochrane and area residents for hours of western-related activities, such as mock ranch roping and a horse central exhibit. The activities will wrap up at about 6 p.m.

In addition, the 2013 Calgary Stampede Queen and Princesses — Jessica Williams, Danielle Kakoschke and Catherine Morneau — will be wandering around the rodeo grounds July 27.

The royal trio will be taking part in the opening ceremony of the Cochrane Classic Bullriding, which is set to run at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

After the event, attendees can dance the night away to the Bow River Band at the post-bullriding cabaret.

Admission to Cochrane SummerFest is $5, while $30 can grant access to the Cochrane Classic Bullriding.

To gain entry to both, it will cost you $35.
