Today is the last day for shoppers of local health store, The Healthy Hut, to stop by the 126 2nd Ave West location to bid farewell to owner Lucy Miller.

After 11 years of serving the community, Miller is heading into retirement and is handing the reigns over to Grand Avenue Pharmacy, an acquisition that would see the health store relocating to Grand Avenue’s current location at 105-100 Grand Blvd. April 24.

“It’s just time,” said Miller, with respect to her retirement. “I’m extremely grateful to the community and this town has been really good to me…I’ve learned a lot from my customers.”

Miller said this is a ‘win-win situation’, as Grand Avenue Pharmacy has been looking at expanding into the homeopathic market for some time.

“Since Wal-Mart opened we knew we needed to make some changes,” said operations manager, Reid Kimmett, adding that the pharmacy has a practicing naturopath, Dr. Greg Sikorski, already operating The Natural Element Clinic out of the location.

“It’s a natural extension to have those types of products and that sort of clientele come in, and to carry on with them much like Lucy did,” said Kimmett.

The staff at Grand Avenue is currently making room for all products currently sold at The Healthy Hut — organic and natural vitamins; supplements and herbs; homeopathic remedies; aromatherapy; natural skin, hair, cosmetic and baby products; eco-friendly cleaners; and nutritious drinks, snacks and food products. The ‘Green Days Grand Opening Celebration’ will run from April 24-May 5.
