Residents in the Rocky View County area have reported a number of break and enters last week.
In a two-day span, Cochrane RCMP responded to two vehicle thefts and numerous reports of residents having their vehicles being rummaged through in three different subdivisions.
On July 21 at 6:10 a.m., RCMP members were called to Kodiak Springs Road when a white 2015 Mercedes Benz was seen stolen and driving away from the home, Alberta licence plate YHV153.
“The witness also had seen a black 2015 Jeep Gran Cherokee driven with his Mercedes which matches the description of one stolen from an unlocked garage on Lochend Road that same morning,” the RCMP press release stated.
The Alberta licence plate for the stolen jeep is BDG2376.
For the rest of that day and on Friday, Cochrane RCMP continued to receive reports that vehicles were rummaged through and things stolen from residences in Glendale Court. The subdivisions are located closely to Rocky View County.
Cochrane RCMP Const. Jennifer Brewer said the two vehicles that were stolen were taken from garages that were unlocked and all the other reports of vehicles being rummaged through had unlocked doors.
“We really want to stress to the public to take safety precautions and remember to lock their vehicles,” Brewer said.
If anyone sees these vehicles occupied, RCMP advises not to approach but to call 911 right away. If anyone sees these vehicles unoccupied, please call the complaint line at 403-932-2211.
