Time to renew your pet licences in Cochrane

Fees for renewal are due Feb. 28

This year's animal licence renewal notices are being emailed out to Cochrane pet owners this week.

Under the town's bylaw, all dogs and cats are required to be licensed.

The Town of Cochrane transitioned to standard annual renewal for pet licences in 2021, which supported pet licences being renewed in January of each year. Technology challenges, however, pushed the renewal process back one month.

"We appreciate the support of all Cochrane pet owners in renewing or acquiring a licence for their pet," financial services manager Tanya Galon said.

"Your animal licence is used to reunite you with your pet if they are lost," she said. "In addition, the fees collected are used to support the waste-bag dispenser program and to provide emergency care to injured animals."

Pet owners can log on to the town's eServices portal to renew Fido's licence.

For those new to town or who just brought home a new furry friend of more than three months of age, you will need to obtain a licence.

Renewal notices are emailed annually and the 2022 payment is due by Feb. 28.
