Top Spray products make use of harvested timber

One hundred per cent utilization has been a platform that Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) has stood on throughout the years. And it’s this principle that has been the birthing place for SLS’s division of Top Spray.

The Top Spray division offers a wide range of products including soil and compost blends, all derived from making use of every part of the harvested timber.

“It’s really something that we’re quite proud of — our 100 per cent utilization,” explains Ed Kulcsar, woodlands manager for SLS.

“We make lumber, we make fence posts, some other traditional products, but we also have markets for all the sawdust, shavings and bark. Whether it’s for the branching community or landscaping products or erosion control products, we turn absolutely 100 per cent of that tree into a product.”

Through the Top Spray division, a multitude of erosion and sediment control solutions are available for the home gardening project to the commercial landscaper.

This by-products division includes a variety of mulch, loam and soil products; a broad range of landscaping and environmental services is also available.

Top Spray focuses on organic, environmentally friendly landscaping products that will boast benefits such as increased soil fertility, less water and wind erosion and increased soil insulation. SLS’s Top Spray division has seasonal retail locations in both Cochrane and Edmonton.
