Lee Nail took part in the 2013 Monumental Tournament of Aces to help raise funds for the Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation on Oct. 5 at Glen Eagles golf club. The annual events theme this year was “western” and golfers enjoyed a chance to play a fun round of nine holes while toting some western digs.

The 11th annual Monumental Tournament of Aces is back at the Links of GlenEagles Sept. 29 – with 40 to 60 spots left for those looking to dust off their golf clubs in favour of local charities. The primary beneficiary of the annual charity golf tourney this year is the new, fully-accessible playground at Centennial Park in the East End through Variety Alberta. It's been a swinging success for the event since its inception, started by the local community-minded Kimmett family in honour of the late Dr. Lindsay Leigh Kimmett, who was killed by a distracted driver in a car accident in 2008. Her family quickly kick-started the foundation and has raised millions for charities the foundation supports, namely related to children and sports. The family continues to host the annual Kimmett Cup winter hockey tourney. For the last three years, the foundation has partnered with the Rotary Club of Cochrane - who have now taken the reins of the fundraiser, while continuing to honour Lindsay's legacy. Cochrane Search and Rescue is a co-host this year. Last year, the golf tourney raised $83,000. The goal this year is to raise $80,000. "We would like to thank the community for the support they've given us this year," said Glen Gryzko, Cochrane Rotary Club member and golf tourney chair, adding that there are still sponsorship opportunities available and that silent and live auction donations are welcomed. Gryzko said for the Rotary Club, the focus will be on major community projects that need a boost. For the Rotary Club, the park project is a good example of that.
