Town closes outdoor rinks

Outdoor rinks closed for public use until significant stretch of freezing weather sets in.

Only days after the Mitford Pond-hosted Kimmett Cup, the Town of Cochrane has closed outdoor rinks due to mild weather causing poor ice conditions.

The town announced via Facebook Monday, Feb. 7 that the pond, Tim Bannister Memorial Rink in the East End and the downtown rink will be closed while crews work to rebuild the ice surfaces.

All rinks are expected to remain closed to the public until there is a significant stretch of freezing weather.

Residents are also reminded to stay off stormwater facilities, creeks and rivers.
