Town of Cochrane reports 24 active cases of COVID-19

The Town of Cochrane reported 24 active cases of COVID-19 as of the end of the day Tuesday (March 16). To date the town has identified 374 cases of the virus, two people have died and 348 people have recovered.

COCHRANE— The number of active COVID-19 cases in Cochrane are continuing to trend down.

The Town of Cochrane reported 24 active cases of COVID-19 as of the end of the day Tuesday (March 16). To date, the town has identified 374 cases of the virus, two people have died and 348 people have recovered.

Four schools in the region are reporting multiple cases of COVID-19. Bow Valley High School has reported an outbreak of 10 or more cases of the virus, Cochrane High School is on alert for a reported two to four cases of COVID-19, Fireside School is on alert for two to four cases of the virus and Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School is on alert for two to four cases COVID-19.

In Alberta over the last 24-hours, 479 new cases of COVID-19 were identified after the completion of 10,800 tests.

The current provincial testing positivity rate sits at 4.7 per cent.

Alberta Health has identified 50 new cases of the COVID-19 variant. It is estimated 11 per cent of active cases in the province are variants of concern.

Currently, there are 262 COVID-related hospitalizations in Alberta, including 44 patients in intensive care.

Four new deaths were reported to Alberta Health Services in the last 24 hours. To date, 1,956 Albertans have died.

As of Tuesday, more than 397,500 doses of the COVID-19 have been administered in Alberta.

There are 4,918 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
