The Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS), in partnership with the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee and the Town of Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), will be offering an information session about becoming a Canadian citizen at the Nan Boothby Memorial Library on Thursday, Jan. 21.

“Sherrisa Celis from CCIS (will) give helpful information and answer questions about options on the steps to take to become a Canadian citizen, ” states the event's poster.

The free session will run from 1-3 p.m. and requires registration to attend.

A new weekly market is coming to Cremona starting Saturday, Jan. 16.

The market, called Market Junction will be taking place at 213 Railway Ave in Cremona from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

“Market Junction was created to provide a meeting place or ‘Junction' for the wide variety of talented entrepreneurial vendors in Mountain View and Rocky View counties, ” states the Market's website.

It “has a rustic ambiance and down home country charm just a short, leisurely drive from Calgary, Red Deer, Airdrie, Olds, Sundre, and Cochrane. ”

The weekly indoor market will take place year-round every Saturday and will have “plenty of free parking ”.

There is a “flat fee ” of $30 per day for vendors. Extra tables will be $5 each and extra power will cost $5 as well.

Seniors on the Bow Centre will be hosting a Fine Art Show on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Spray Lakes Sawmills (SLS) Family Sports Centre at 800 Griffin Road East.

According to Shannon Bannister, the seniors' centre programmer for the Town of Cochrane, this event aims to “exhibit local artists ” while raising funds for the centre.

For sale at the show will be art ranging from “pottery, oil paintings, photography, calligraphy ” and much more.

The event will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is free admission.

Five per cent of all art sales will go towards the Seniors on the Bow Centre.

Wine will be available for purchase “by the glass ” and there will be a free cheese tasting as well.

Due to construction at the SLS Family Sports Centre, visitors are asked to plan ahead and arrive early to avoid parking issues.
