The Cochrane Legion will be hosting an inaugural cenotaph vigil Oct. 22 to honour Nathan Cirillo, who was shot and killed in Ottawa at the Canadian National War Memorial.

The vigil is hosted as an act of remembrance for the late Cirillo on the one-year anniversary of his death. Cirillo was the Sentry Guard, who was assassinated when on duty at the National War Memorial last October.

After the Canadian was fatally shot, vigils were held across the country and in Ottawa, bringing out hundreds of people showing their support.

The vigil is being put on by the Royal Canadian Legion Men of Vision Branch #15 at the Cochrane cenotaph from sunrise to sunset Oct. 22.

Everyone in the community is invited to take part in the vigil.
