Expect a rapid cool down in the Cochrane area today.
Environment Canada issued a weather advisory on Feb. 29 saying an approaching cold front means a sudden drop in temperatures by this afternoon.
“Temperatures may drop 15 to 20 degrees Celsius in less than an hour,” the advisory said.
People should be prepared if heading outside today.
The agency also said recent snow melt will freeze, leading to slippery conditions.
In the mountains, a snowfall warning has also been issued for the Banff, Ghost Lake and Canmore areas.
An additional 5 to 10 cm of snow expected today. Heavy snow will continue today over mountain regions and parts of the foothills.
Scattered flurries are expected to persist tonight and Friday. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
