Cochrane Western Financial employees will tie up their laces and embark on a five-kilometre trek to raise money for communities the company serves within.
Participants gather pledges to raise money for the walk, and Western Financial donates $50 to each employee who takes part.
All money raised will go toward community infrastructure grants, student bursaries and other endeavours that support public health, recreation and education.
Support the Cause Day kicks off at 10 a.m today (May 29) from Western Financial’s 5th Avenue office location.
Those participating will wear a red Support the Cause Day T-shirt to help raise awareness to the effort.
“Last year, the Support the Cause Day raised nearly $90,000 for the Western Communities Foundation,” said Western Financial vice-president of marketing and communications John Jenner.
In total, the five-kilometre walk has raised more than $426,000.
