Rocky View farmers are hoping for hot and dry weather in order to finish harvest quickly.

The Young Agrarians Business Mentorship Network (BMN) is offering to connect younger farmers who have only been in the business fewer than five years with a seasoned farmer to gain tips, pointers and insights on best management practices.

The program runs throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia.

The program has been operating in British Columbia since 2013 and expanded to the Prairie Provinces in 2023.

According to information provided by BMN, to date, the organization has paired up 171 farmers on 118 farms with over 70 mentors, “creating lasting relationships of support and mutual learning.”

“In the past year alone,” it goes on to say, “after a season of mentorship, we have seen mentees generate a 147 per cent increase in revenues, a 98 per cent increase in volume of food grown, and a 12 per cent  increase of land in production.”

Applications are open from October 1 to October 31.
