The Calgary Stampede Showband and Calgary Stetson Show Band have set the bar pretty high for marching bands, winning multiple awards at recent international competitions.

International award winning bluesman Tim Williams will be making a stop in Cochrane for the Mountain Shadows Music Festival. Williams, originally from California, said he settled in Calgary because his wife’s family and career were in the area.

The 100-km Sears Great Canadian Run will be rolling through Cochrane Aug. 23. The run is a long distance running relay in support of the Sears Canada Charitable Foundation.

The second annual Mountain Shadows Music Festival is back with an extra day of music to showcase local talent. Last year the festival was held in September and only lasted for one day.
