On May 9 at 2 p.m. residents of Cochrane are invited to celebrate “National Day of Honour,” at the Cochrane Legion Cenotaph to commemorate the work done in Afghanistan by the Canadian men and women who served.

As part of the Alberta government’s commitment to flood mitigation, Robin Campbell, minister of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development, revealed plans for a proposed storage reservoir near Springbank Road and the McLean Creek dry dam.

It’s last call for residents to participate in the 2014 municipal census. Enumerators are anticipated to wrap up the door-to-door campaign May 10, with access to the online census closing May 11.

Cochrane’s only cooperative, volunteer-driven playschool — Cochrane Creative Playschool Society (CCPS) said that May 31 is the deadline for families to apply for their new scholarship opportunity, the J&J Ross Scholarship.
