A route will be set around Mitford Park the day of the virtual run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accommodate anyone who wishes to utilize it. The beauty of hosting it virtually also means that anyone can run anywhere and at any time, said Lesley Hunt, event organizer of the Terry Fox Run.

This year, the memorial event took place Sept. 10 but it took root Sept. 11, 2015, when Cochrane resident and firefighter Jeremie Huolt had the day off.

The three-day event is presented by the Prairie West Chapter of Working Equitation Canada and will leadoff with a working equitation clinic put on by international clinician, judge and competitor Jill Barron on Friday (Sept. 17), followed by a two-day show with a dressage phase on Saturday and ease of handling and speed phases on Sunday of which Barron will also be the judge. 

Youth ages five to 10 met twice a week from July 6 to Aug. 26. at Bubble Tea Brewers for the art workshop organized by the Filipino Canadian Association of Cochrane Alberta (FCACA) with the help of Cochrane Home Treasures as the event’s sponsor.

Eight candidates took part in a forum organized by the Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday. Chamber president Ozzie Sawicki moderated the event. The only candidate not present was independent Ron Voss.

“It was such a great feeling to be immersed in the community, everybody came out, we had spectators, we had all the other organizations and individuals walking. It felt like Cochrane again. It’s something that we have missed because Helping Hands – we typically have the big community food drives twice a year and we haven’t been able to be part of that. Cochrane is known for all of its events and activities where the community comes together, it was so great to see everyone out and about.”
