Bragg Creek and area residents interested in setting up backyard chicken coops can learn the ins and outs of what it’s like to house the animals at three upcoming information sessions.

"To have such support coming back from the community, I can’t express how much that means to us. This pandemic has pulled us all together, and we have been doing whatever we can, and vice-versa, to keep each other’s doors open, and to know that organizations and businesses in our community want to see our doors stay open and are supporting us in any way that they can, with the challenges they’re seeing, is very heartwarming."

“We focus on people’s strength and we support them to build their capacity. We’re also trauma-informed because we don’t want to re-traumatize anyone walking through our doors. We’re inclusive, anybody can come to see us,” Farnsworth said. 

“I don’t know how we can correct this at this point in time, it’s gone too far. This whole issue of the government and the doctors should have been addressed long ago. It’s gone so far now, with doctors pulling out, trying to entice doctors to come back to some of the smaller communities is going to be hard. What kind of incentive can we offer them?”

COCHRANE— The deadline for the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board Growth and Servicing Plan is fast approaching and the final details are being carefully tuned.

“Horses are incredibly emotionally intelligent … They’re able to read the energy that comes off of people. They also can read many, many facial expressions,” van der Hoek said. “They’re really good at reading us when we can’t read ourselves.”

“We have athletes from Medicine Hat and Lloyd Minister connecting with athletes from Wood Buffalo and Grande Prairie. As furthest north we can go, and as furthest south we can go, it just fostered that different connection. Hopefully, when we get back to that in-person programming, whether it’s at provincial games or other competitive opportunities, they already have that connection built and that sense of community."

“It’s a great cruiser car, it’s not a high-performance car,” Kaczmer said. “It’s a driver. It gets driven everywhere— It floats around very nicely on the highway.”

The Springbank Community Association is holding its first ever raffle in June to help raise money for Springbank Community High School’s robotics team and innovation lab.
