Both the Cochrane Cobras boys and girls basketball teams had a very successful season when they capped of their league play on March 8 and 9 at the Zone Championships.

The Cochrane Generals were eliminated last night after a 4-2 loss to the Coaldale Copperheads in Game five of the third-round of the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) series.

The Cochrane Generals are onto round three. After defeating the second-ranked Okotoks Bisons 3-2 in Game 5 on Feb. 28 to take the second round Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) series four games to one.

Four Bow Valley Special Olympics athletes won a grand total of 11 medals at the B.C. Winter Games in Vernon on Feb. 21 to 24.

Cochrane hockey star Sarah Wozniewicz and her Team Alberta teammates won the gold medal at the Canada Winter Games in front of a capacity crowd in Red Deer with a 2-1 victory over Team Quebec on March 2.

Cochrane athletes are hitting the big stage as a number of local competitors have or will be strutting their stuff on a national stage at the USports level which began Feb. 22 and 23 with wrestling.
