Comets swim to medals at age-group meet

Cochrane Comets swimmer Jorden Rowsell picked up gold in the boys 12- 13-year-old 100-metre backstroke, and bronze in the 50m backstroke Dec. 15 at the 2013 Age Group Challenge swim meet in Calgary.

Cochrane Comets swimmer Jorden Rowsell picked up gold in the boys 12- 13-year-old 100-metre backstroke, and bronze in the 50m backstroke Dec. 15 at the 2013 Age Group Challenge swim meet in Calgary.

Tyson Lavis, 14, won two silver medals in the boys 14-and-over 200m backstroke and 400m Individual Medley. With personal-best times in five of six events, he removed almost 40 seconds total from his times.

Emma Konkin picked up bronze in the 11-12 girls 50m butterfly. She swam two meet qualifying times in the 200m IM and 400m freestyle, and all personal-best times.

Avery Genung,14, swam all personal-bests as well, making finals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events for girls 13 and over, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.
