Cowboys clean up

The Cochrane Cowboys galloped into the 2014 amateur wrestling season, claiming eight medals at the season-opening Wetaskiwin Classic wrestling tournament Nov. 29 in Wetaskiwin.

Connor McNeice and Aidan McKeage won gold in the senior high elite division at the tournament. Luke Clubb took bronze.

In senior high novice, Connor Pointen won gold, Connor Swedlo silver and Jorgen Thompson bronze. Female wrestlers Sarah Gregory won gold and Danika Cook won silver.

Charles Cook placed fifth in the senior high elite event and Vernon Pointen sixth in a very tough division. The junior high Cowboys didn’t make the tourney because of bad weather/road conditions.
