HONOLULU (AP) — Wallace “Wally” Amos, the creator of the cookie empire that took his name and made it famous and who went on to become a children’s literacy advocate, has died. He was 88.

OTTAWA — Former Conservative MP and cabinet minister Chuck Strahl has died at the age of 67. Strahl was first elected in 1993 and represented the B.C. riding of Chilliwack–Fraser Canyon until his retirement in 2011.

TORONTO — Gilles Leger, who spent 11 seasons as an executive with the NHL's Quebec Nordiques, has died at age 83. The NHL confirmed Leger's death in a statement Wednesday. A cause of death was not given.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Frank Selvy, an All-America guard at Furman who scored an NCAA Division I-record 100 points in a game and later played nine NBA seasons, died Tuesday. He was 91.

Susan Wojcicki, a pioneering tech executive who helped shape Google and YouTube, has died, her husband said. She was 56.

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Mike Sertich, the longtime University of Minnesota Duluth hockey coach who led the Bulldogs to the 1984 NCAA title game, died Thursday after a fight with pancreatic cancer. He was 77.

PARIS (AP) — Issa Hayatou, the long-time leader of African soccer who was made interim president of FIFA during its corruption crisis in 2015, died on Thursday. He was 77.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Roxane Gilmore, a teacher and professor who served as first lady of Virginia during her husband Jim Gilmore's term as governor from 1998 to 2002, died Wednesday. She was 70.
