Dear editor,

We have all heard on the media individuals concerns over the Bank of Canada rising their rates which will raise bank mortgage rates. I have a question for our mayor and city councillors: What about Cochranites who may be forced to sell their residences due to high property taxes? I am a senior on a fixed income and do not qualify for the senior property tax support program of the $500 tax reduction with income under $29,285.

I reside in Crawford Ranch in a half-duplex and with the current increase effective July 1, will be paying $4,848 a year through the TIPP program. Yes; my duplex backs onto the Bow River, but as a condo complex, we receive absolutely no Town support for our tax dollars.

I moved here 10 years ago from Calgary & love where I live but question how I will be able to continue to afford to live in this community.
