Dear editor,
This is regarding last week's articles in The Eagle about the COLT transit system.
I had been using COLT about 20 times a month for the past year, until this January, when my rides to Bethany ended following my wife's death. I still ride COLT, but not as often.
I've always found COLT to be reliable and friendly. The buses are handicap-accessible, and I had no problem getting my power wheelchair on and off the bus.
I have, however, found that booking early is essential in order to get the time slot you want. An on-demand service means that a bus may drop off a passenger in one part of town and pick up the next one in the opposite end of town.
Coun. Nagel probably observed buses travelling empty or with few passengers when a bus was between those points. Sometimes I was the only passenger and other times the bus was almost full.
I believe the only way to get full buses in Cochrane would be to have fewer buses and fewer routes, which I do not think is a good idea.
