Dear editor,

Since COVID-19 arrived in out midst, the Cochrane Knights of Columbus were unable to host their annual golf tournament that took place at the Riverview Golf Course. But this year, on Sunday, Sept. 11, the tournament did take place, and it was very successful thanks to the financial support received from numerous local companies sponsoring this fund raiser.

At this time, it is important to know that the Knights of Columbus continue to be true to their founding principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. It is the reason of their existence to help those in need.

Therefore, this year, due to the financial success of the golf tournament, the Knights of Columbus will continue supporting their different charities. In April of this year, the director of Big Hill Haven’s Board of Trustees approached Mike Legault, the golf tournament chairman, for financial support. Big Hill Haven provides assistance to women and children experiencing domestic abuse through emergency housing community outreach, and case management program.

Consequently, Mike Legault, Grand Knight, presented a cheque to Wanda McGinnis, executive director for Big Hill Haven.

Once again, the Knights of Columbus would like to express their thanks to all the Cochrane sponsors who helped make this golf tournament a big success.
