To see the stress and pointless pain these animals are subjected to for ‘entertainment and greed’ is simply sad.
The responder to the letter ("Stampede, like bullfighting, should fade into past") wrote so many false equivalents in his letter I lost track. Surprised you would even print it.
News flash, accidents are preventable if people were not careless, birds would not hit buildings at current rates if glass and lights were managed. And please, using Indigenous people to make point about rodeo, shameful. Stampede, aka rodeo, should and will fade in time as the cruel and unnecessary event that it is. I am from a farming background and own horses (no city slicker here), to see the stress and pointless pain these animals are subjected to for ‘entertainment and greed’ is simply sad.
People use to attend the circus and watch animal cruelty as entertainment, as with bull fighting and cock fighting-- we don’t do that anymore because we are becoming more thoughtful and aware of animals as the sentient beings they are. Rodeo is a vanishing cruel spectacle.
Here’s another fact, it’s only a ‘sport’ when all participants agree to play, don’t think any of the animals are agreeing to play rodeo.
