Letter to the Editor: Thankful for the thoughtfulness of Cochranites

I always knew that Cochrane was a special community, but the experience I had last week is proof positive that we live in a very special place. We have two very active dogs, which we walk every day at the riverside off-leash, rain or shine.

I always knew that Cochrane was a special community, but the experience I had last week is proof positive that we live in a very special place.

We have two very active dogs, which we walk every day at the riverside off-leash, rain or shine.

We are a community unto ourselves, as we see each other on a regular basis, and know each other\'s dogs by name.

Last week, as I was walking past a familiar group of walkers, one of them was dangling a set of car keys, asking each passerby if the keys belonged to them. I checked my pockets, and sure enough, they were mine.

I was fortunate enough to be at the right place and at the right time, and so very thankful for the honesty of my fellow dog walkers.

Later that day, I got a knock on my door; looked through the window, and it was a local police officer. My first instinct was to look for a mask ... Silly me.

The officer was holding a credit card, which I identified as mine.

It had slipped out of my pocket when I was getting gas at the Petro Can.

He went out of his way to drive to my house and return it to me. How thoughtful, and amazing is that!!!!

Where else but here would you find such thoughtfulness?

So, my thanks to the dog owners for their honesty, and especially to the Cochrane officer, who's good deed will be forever remembered.

Thank You,

Nancy Gibbie
