Happy New Year Cochrane! Every day it is an honour and a privilege to serve as your mayor and work with so many of you who love this town as much as I do.

My choice last week of “endurance” as my Word of the Year for 2018 led to some very thoughtful and surprising responses. Here are just a few.

Tis the season for naming the Word of the Year. And if you can endure one more nominee…. On the heels of Collins Dictionary’s choice of “fake news” as last year’s Word of the Year, Dictionary.

With the holiday season upon us, it’s a great time of year to connect with family and friends.

For those of us who have been following the deteriorating socioeconomic situation in Venezuela, it is alarming to see the extent of deterioration in the quality of life of Venezuelans over the past three to four years.

Following up on last week’s guest column by our son Reg on Christmas crèches, this week’s column is a gift from our son James Harbeck , writer, editor, linguist and photographer, on another symbol of the season.

Year end is here and so much in Cochrane is changing!. I am excited about some new things. September 2019 we will see buses around town contracted through Southland Transportation. This is an amazing new service for our growing community.
