I attended the recent all-candidates forum held at the Frank Willis Hall last week. I found the session informative, although the process used was a bit tedious.

On Dec. 31, 2016, my seventh annual run and walk was held at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre in Cochrane. In the past, the fundraiser has supported Right To Play and a playground in the village of Mto wa Mbu in Tanzania.

I had just turned on my computer and read the beautiful Yom Kippur (Jewish High Holy Day) reflections one of our Cochrane coffee companions had emailed me.

I was sitting in the waiting room at the Stoney Health Center recently. A respected Elder who had difficulty walking had to walk outside, around the entrance and back to the pharmacy entrance. The door which led directly to the pharmacy was locked.

A visit this week with Marlis McDouall filled me once more with awe over autumn’s return. Marlis has been our coffee companion and my mentor in German language and things beautiful almost since I started writing these columns.

I was devastated the other day to learn that a neighbour of ours had just passed away after months of battling cancer. I hadn’t even been aware that he’d been ill.
