Cochrane certainly has an interesting history, as does the surrounding area.

From time to time I run a guest column by each of our two sons, Reg and James. This week’s is by our older son, Reg, an IT (information technology) philosopher.

Writing this past week about the history of Cochrane has been a great experience that has reinforced history’s importance to me. But it has also been a little troubling.

The Boothby family has deep roots in the Cochrane area dating back to 1905. This well-known and respected family can now boast four generations in Cochrane, with a fifth on the way.

When there are two conflicting sides to a story, more often than not, the truth can be found somewhere in the middle.

I am the first one to say that I love my horses – they are part of my family. Unfortunately, interaction with one of my beloved horses has resulted in me currently being in a wheelchair and using a walker.
