If you have been watching the Calgary Stampeders in action this season, what you’ve witnessed is a mobile magic act. And an act that would stun even Penn and Teller in Las Vegas.

This year in May, I was playing lacrosse and got cross-checked in the back of my head, I was knocked out and figured I was okay. Then about four or five days later I went to play 3-on-3 hockey.

At 9 p.m. on Sept. 21 I was standing next to the No. “24” painted on a road, on the Island of Rarotonga in the Pacific Ocean. It was raining and I had 100 kilometres to run.

What a weekend. Last weekend there was something for everyone and it doesn’t get much better than that. Pennies of course, and outhouses and art and great photographs and music and old cars.

This is not putting a knock on Jarome Iginla of Calgary’s Flames but, instead, to wonder how the National Hockey League got into the pickle it’s in today. Jarome is just being used as an example of the stupidity of the owners.

I recently had the pleasure of participating in a fundraising ride sponsored by the Alberta Equestrian Federation. The ride was held at the Rafter 6 Guest Ranch and was very well attended.

Fear. It can wrap it’s boney cold fingers around you and immobilize you. That’s how I was feeling a few weeks ago. So full of fear. I was fearful of getting my head shaved. Turned out it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
