Feeling downhearted lately and in need of something to lift your spirits? How about dropping by Cochrane’s recently opened Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery ? That’s exactly what I’ve done, and I’ve not been disappointed.

I have been a resident and employee in the Town of Cochrane for 20 years ... I have seen a lot.. ...and we have seen many changes.

Mountaineer Martin (aged 64) and grandson Nanatuk Nathan (aged 11) have climbed Mount Everest at a rate of 200 stairs per day. They left Base Camp (17,600 feet) on April 14th and reached the summit of Everest (29,029 feet) on July 17th.

Wearing a mask should not be a political issue. A simple gesture meant to protect those around you and prevent the spread of COVID-19 has morphed into a cantankerous monster of a topic seemingly dividing people into two camps— pro and anti-mask.

Summer is here and I am looking forward to enjoying the sun like the rest of Cochrane. The next year though, is going to be stormy clouds, as Cochrane grapples with Covid-19 and the provincial economy. Cochrane is a desirable place to live.

Last week’s column looked to cherries for what to add to a whack pack for a world out of whack. With so much malicious misinformation bombarding us lately, the cherries advised us to add the wisdom, “Don’t swallow the pits.

The Cochrane urban planning geniuses are back at it again. This time it’s the connection of the new Jack Tennant Memorial bridge directly into the heart of suburbia and not out to highway 22 as originally promised.
