At a special meeting of Rocky View County (RVC) council, councillors voted to reject the application of the Highmark development group that would have seen the construction of a new development in the Bearspaw area of RVC.

“You can’t help but fall in love with the cause,” said Barlow. “We’ve had fundraisers in the past that have been good but we really wanted something in close proximity [to the camp], and we had some great volunteers jump on board [right away].” 

Livestock numbers in the Yankee Valley area have been cut back by about half of what they were three or four years ago as ranchers are forced to sell off heifers to match the feed that is available.
