Bow RiversEdge Campground donates $54,100 to community and $50,000 to Ft. Mac

The Bow Rivers Edge Campground Society announced $104,100 in community program reinvestment this year, including $50,000 to fire relief in Fort McMurray (a split donation from the local Lions and Rotary clubs).

The Bow Rivers Edge Campground Society announced $104,100 in community program reinvestment this year, including $50,000 to fire relief in Fort McMurray (a split donation from the local Lions and Rotary clubs).

The society is a non-profit, jointly owned by the Town of Cochrane, Rocky View County, the Cochrane Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Cochrane. Each year, the society puts an average of $60,000 back into the greater community through its community reinvestment program (proceeds after campground maintenance and operations costs).

The society held a barbecue event Oct. 13, awarding recipients with grant monies.

According to Glenn Congram, Rotarian and society vice-chair, the board received 19 requests this year.

Nan Boothby Memorial Library: $8,800

Cochrane and Area Humane Society: $2,500

Cochrane Avitvettes: $3,000

Junior Achievement Southern Alberta: $2,500

Cochrane Area Victims Services Society: $2,000

Glenbow Ranch Foundation: $2,500

Cochrane Historical Museum: $4,100

Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area: $3,000

Cochrane Cowboy Wrestling Club: $10,000

Spirit Winds Stepping Stones Foundation: $2,000

Fort McMurray Fire Lions/Rotary Foundation: $50,000

HG Smith and Associates Labour Transportation Shuttle Services: $10,000
